The Other Side of Niagra

Don't forget the other side of the falls.
Don't get me wrong; we went over the border into Canada. We visited the falls. We even went out in the boat. However, my favorite part of Niagara was on the U.S. side. Yes, the U.S. side!
We stayed in a fabulous little state park called Four Mile Creek State Park. It had plenty of room while still being very wooded and natural. It was quiet and beautiful, and close. Especially close to all the hiking trails the U.S. side has to offer.
We had a fantastic day hiking Devil’s Hole and Whirlpool. Both are additional state parks, and both are must-sees. They connect as one loop, about six miles beginning to end. Easy hiking, filled with both human-made and natural granite steps and well-marked pathways.
The river is beautiful in its own right and a perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Plus the bathrooms are the cutest ever state park bathrooms.
